Brief History of the Department of Urdu.

The Department of Urdu came into existence after 21 years from the establishment of the college in 1976. Right from the beginning the department had devotional patronage of luminary professor and a great scholar Dr Fazle Imam Rizvi. He provided his visionary service for the department for two years. He laid down the foundation within two years of his active participation, support and guidance. Later on he was selected as a member of UPPSC. He authored several books including Tanqeedi Mayar and Allama Iqbal kiAsas-e-Fikr. After his depature Dr. Badrudddin Ahmad joined the department in the year 1978. He served the department with a great zeal and passion till 2001. He was a very good poet too. His poetry collections include Zaban_e_Zakhm and Libas_e_Zakhm. He translated the Holi Quran in free verse in urdu Language should be considered his great contribution to Urdu language and literature.

In 2002 the Department came under the headship of Mohd. Tarique Kabir. He is being assisted by Dr. Sanaullah as guest faculty. He is giving his services in the capacity of the head of the department with great enthusiasm to the department and also encourages the students for further studies in Urdu Language and literature.
