Brief History of the Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology was established in 1967. The department was first headed by Sri Vidyapati Tripathi, who continued to service it till his retirement in 2002. Owing to his dedication towards department he served as guest faculty for two more sessions. Mrs. Rashmi Ranjan joined this college in 2001 as permanent lecturer from U.P. higher education service, but she left this college and joined B.H.U. as deputy registrar. At present Dr. Anamika Singh is heading the department. She is being assisted by Dr. O.P. Singh, Dr. D. K. Tripathi Dr. Archana Shukla, Smt. Seema Pandey and Miss Zainab Khan. The department also started post graduation course since 2019.
